Location and boundaries of the Nature Park

Lüneburg Heath Nature Park of is part of Lüneburg Heath holiday region and is located between the three cities of Hamburg, Bremen and Hannover. It stretches from Buchholz in der Nordheide in the north to Soltau in the south, and from Schneverdingen in the west to the borders of the town of Lüneburg in the east.

Today it includes parts of the three districts of Lüneburg, Harburg and Heidekreis. There are 35 municipalities within Lüneburg Heath Nature Park, and around 100,000 people live within its borders. Until February 2007, Lüneburg Heath Nature Park was coincident with Lüneburg Heath Nature Reserve and was one of the smallest nature parks in Germany. In February 2007, the Nature Park quadrupled in size and now covers more than 107,000 hectares.
