The route network and long-distance routes

A total of four long-distance trails and a pilgrimage route lead through Lüneburg Heath Nature Park. Each hiking trail leads you on a themed route to a special point of interest. Each one is designed to take you on interesting routes, very close to nature. Take your time and enjoy the diversity of Lüneburg Heath Nature Park!

Heidschnucken Trail

This ‘best hiking trail in Germany 2014’ takes you from Hamburg-Fischbek to the ‘Residenzstadt’ of Celle. It can also be covered in 8 to 14 stages. Detailed information and the GPX data can be found here: www.heidschnuckenweg.de

E1 European long-distance path

From Scandinavia to the south of Italy, this European long-distance path leads through the heart of Lüneburg Heath Nature Park. Wide heathlands, extensive forests and vibrant heathland settlements with old farms make this section of the E1 a special experience.

Hermann Billung Trail

From Lüneburg to Soltau, this path crosses the south-eastern part of the Nature Park. On the way through an attractive and varied landscape you will find some hidden locations in addition to well-known places.

Freudenthal Trail

The Freudenthal brothers, who came from Lüneburg Heath, certainly knew about the special features of their homeland. In their numerous works, the two writers expressed their love for this region and described a landscape that can still be admired today on the path named after them.
